The Scottish Hellenic Society of Edinburgh was founded in 1965 to promote interests in Greek culture in Scotland; membership is open to all, and the Society runs annually a programme of six talks by visiting speakers on all manner of subjects to do with Greek history and culture from antiquity to the present day.
The Society maintains close ties with the British School at Athens, and note here the upcoming BSA Scotland Seminar (5 May, 5pm UK time/ 7pm Greek time) with two presentations:
- Prof. John Bennet, Director of the BSA: ‘The work of the BSA – highlights and upcoming activities’
- Dr David Lewis, University of Edinburgh: ‘A lost cargo of slaves from the fourth century BC’
